Wherever you go, there you are

Flower Have you ever known someone with lots of potential and seemingly everything going for them but they just seem to struggle professionally?

You know the type….that guy or gal that is extremely credentialed and well thought of but leaves a job every 2-3 years because “something” just didn’t work out and they;re in their 3 company in 4 or 5 years?

I have a saying…..

“Wherever you go, there you are.”

What do I mean?

Seeing ourselves though the eyes of others is not necessarily the easiest thing we human beings do.  It’s too easy to “dismiss” feedback from others (expressed or implied) as being about “them”?  So we repeat the same cycles over and over again refusing to see that the common denominator is us!

Wherever you go, there you are.

Self-awareness can be a powerful tool in our arsenal for success.  You are who you are but by being clear on those personality traits or ways of being that affect how others see us, we can operate in more powerful ways to create success.

When was the last time you did a 360 degree inventory?  When was the last time you simply asked for impartial feedback in order to assess how you’re doing (aside from a formal review)?  When was the last time you did a “check-in” with your clients or customers (both internal to your organization and external) to see how you’re doing?

Don’t be afraid of feedback.  Embrace it!

Wherever you go, there you are.

You were born to be great.

YES, you can!
