lessons from a jedi master

Yoda I was channel surfing the other night and I came across Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.  The funny thing is, I always seem to land on Star Wars at the exact same scene (yes universe, I’m listening!).  It is one of my favorite scenes and a reminder to me about commitment and belief in one’s dreams.  If you have never watched it (or haven’t watched in a while) take some time out to enjoy it.  It’s the scene where Luke Skywalker and Yoda are in the swamp and Luke is attempting to levitate the really HUGE spacecraft out of the swamp.  There are many great pearls in this scene but it was the first time I heard this one in quite this way.  Luke is trying, trying, trying and he ultimately quits admonishing Yoda for expecting too much of him.  He skulks away to sit down and Yoda proceeds to levitate the craft and sit it gently on solid ground.  Luke in amazement says, "I don’t believe it!"  Yoda sadly looks at him and replies, "That is why you fail."   It took my breathe away and I thought, how many times do we quit because either we don’t believe fully in ourselves or our ability to truly achieve an objective whether it is a relationship, a six figure job or our own business.  It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.  If you have lost belief in yourself, today I invite you into a new way of being – one that includes confidence, empowerment and belief.  If you were Yoda, what would be different than it is today?  What would THAT person create?

May the force be with you..
